Imran Qureshi trained as a painter in the traditional styles and techniques of the figurative miniature painting of the Indian subcontinent. Over the past years his practice, which shows a clear social/political charge, has focused on extending this strict and rigid painting style using elements of abstraction, conceptualism and site-specificness. Quereshi's recent installations were made in-situ, within the specific architecture of a particular place, often in the public domain.
