Ria Pacquée (°1954) exerce une pratique artistique depuis 1979 et met en image des situations fortuites et des objets du quotidien. La rue, le marché, les cimetières et le désert constituent son champ d’action.
Au départ, son œuvre se compose de performances et de body art. Au début des années 80, elle développe ainsi le personnage de Madame dont elle examine la vie pendant quelques années. Pour ce faire, elle se fait accompagner par un photographe qui immortalise les aventures de Madame.
Depuis 1992, Ria Pacquée a pris distance de la performance et a elle-même pris place derrière l’objectif, avec différentes séries successives pour résultats. Il s’agit souvent de photographies d’objets trouvés dans la rue qu’elle associe les uns aux autres par la forme et la couleur. Elle nous montre ainsi notre environnement à travers un prisme différent.
