De trap bestijgend hoort men een stem uit de geluidsboxen die zegt: JE HEBT HET GEMAAKT: JE BENT EEN NIKKER: HOGER, HOGER. Al dalend zegt een stem: WE HEBBEN JE GEMAAKT: JE BENT EEN TRUT, NAAR BENEDEN. De traphal is ‘uit de weg’ maar is tegelijkertijd in- en uitgangsweg. De politieke en sociale geladenheid van het werk blijft actueel en roept veel vragen op. De touwladder benadrukt het feit dat de traphal een ontsnappingsroute kan zijn. Waar zouden we van ontsnappen?
