Saramago’s book is infinitely quotable. I wrote to him asking if I could use passages in my artwork. He agreed and I spent the next four weeks walking around Lisboa with the ghost of Ricardo Reis. (...)
Each sculpture was given a quotation from The Year of the Death of Ricardo Reis. Reis was one of the pseudonyms of Fernando Pessoa. A fictional author but by Saramago’s logic Reis himself does not know that." [full text here]
