Literary synopsis

The endless, nonsensical, unproductive activities of two persons voluntarily trapped in a space composed of three different rooms. He tries to construct a dysfunctional machine. She records and interacts with the whole situation while questioning and being somewhat aloof. Both will try to test non-useful actions, show them to a non-existent viewer and develop indecipherable situations in a long-term performance composed of 22 actions. The novel is composed of three different voices owned by a non-specific role that cuts the flow of the narration in sporadic essay-like thoughts and unexpected sentences.

Relation of the novel to the artist’s practice

In 2015 Pepo Salazar’s installation was part of the exhibition at the Spanish Pavilion during the 56th Venice Biennale. La fiesta de los metales, published during the show, holds a deep relationship with his installation. In fact, it is related to all his production since the beginning, like a narration that reveals its connections with some pieces, performances and thoughts, some of them realized others never done.
