Назва \u003cem\u003eПоступове сковзання у порожнечу\u003c/em\u003e є варіацією назви фільму режисера Французької нової хвилі Алена Роб-Гріє \u0026laquo;Glissements progressifs du plaisir\u0026raquo; або \u0026laquo;Поступові зміни задоволення\u0026raquo;. In this drawing of 2014 Nikolay Karabinovych reflects on one of the symbols of Ukraine, the so called \u003cem\u003eTryzub\u003c/em\u003e, the coat of arms of Ukraine, a stylised trident \u003cem\u003esymbol\u003c/em\u003e in gold on a blue shield, that first emerged in the times of Kyivan Rus\u0026#39; as a symbol of the Rurik dynasty.\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003eKarabinovych reflects on how a fixed symbol can become alive, and how in a stylised form can be related to a tangle of vital movements, a trajectory that doesn\u0026rsquo;t have a fixed orientation.\u0026nbsp;The title, \u003cem\u003e\u0026lsquo;Successive Slidings to Emptiness\u0026rsquo;,\u003c/em\u003e\u0026nbsp;is a variation on the title of a film of the French Nouvelle vague filmmaker\u0026nbsp;Alain Robbe-Grillet, \u003cem\u003e\u0026lsquo;Glissements progressifs du plaisir\u0026rsquo; \u003c/em\u003eor \u0026lsquo;Successive Slidings of Pleasure\u0026rsquo;.
