Вони підходили все ближче до щитів Внутрішніх військ МВС. Хтось ще спілкувався з бійцями, а хтось калатав у бочку та скандував. На перехрестях квадратних кварталів відбувалися сутички з тітушками та силовиками у цивільному, міліціонери в захисті оточували та били окремих майданівців. Машини МВС заблокували вулиці утворивши барикади, поливали людей водою та світлошумовими гранатами. Час від часу лінія зіткнення посувалася: міліція йшла в атаку зі щитами \u0026quot;черепахою\u0026quot; та знову відступали під дощем з бруківки. Після серії точкових атак на протестувальників з використанням вогнепальної зброї ввечері цього дня влада почала атаку, відтіснивши протест назад до Майдану. За ними залишилися сотні закривавлених людей. Почався штурм, який влада Януковича назвала антитерористичною операцією. Палали барикади, наметовий табір і Будинок профспілок, у якому на той час протестувальники розгорнули госпіталь.
