Literary synopsis *Anna in Hollywood* is Wittig’s surreal journey into the 1930s world of the Bavarian starlet Anna Liszt. The third part in this series finds Anna enjoying the pinnacle of her stardom, uncomfortably exploited to bring in the big bucks, starring in epic films alongside Cary Grant and taking young lovers. Wittig's imagined historical fiction buries its greedy hands into the hidden, yet rampant, homosexuality of prewar Hollywood, complexly interwoven with narratives of love, money-lust, power, exploitation and celebrity. Relation of the novel to the artist’s practice Wittig’s collages made from black and white photographs illustrate the story. About M HKA / Mission Statement

The M HKA is a museum for contemporary art, film and visual culture in its widest sense. It is an open place of encounter for art, artists and the public. The M HKA aspires to play a leading role in Flanders and to extend its international profile by building upon Antwerp's avant-garde tradition. The M HKA bridges the relationship between artistic questions and wider societal issues, between the international and the regional, artists and public, tradition and innovation, reflection and presentation. Central here is the museum's collection with its ongoing acquisitions, as well as related areas of management and research.
