The first were done in 2005 *J is for Jack Russell* and *D is for dancing ministers*. The initial reference is to childhood primers and illustrated alphabets, Letterland gets political...The text on the prints reflects his obsession with hand typography and the style of the prints recalls his earlier silk-screens with the backgrounds of flat colour. \r\n\r\nIn 2008 Anton Kannemeyer added the following lithographs to *the Alphabet of Democracy*. *G is for goodhealth*, *B is for black*, *W is for white*, *N is for nightmare* and *F is for footwashing*.These prints refer to local, South African events and definitions from dictionaries used in schools; but their meaning extends way beyond South African borders and picks up on prejudices and social issues across the globe. *N is for nightmare* and the *B is for black* and *W is for white* would resonate as quickly in the USA and Europe as they do here on the southern tip of Africa."},{"locale":"nl","short_description":"","description":"In de eerste prenten die Anton Kannemeyer deed bij The Artists' Press richtte hij zich op beelden uit de reeks *Alphabet of Democracy* (Alfabet van de democratie). De eerste zoals *J is for Jack Russell* and *D is for dancing ministers* werden gemaakt in 2005. Deze eerste prenten verwijzen naar de kindertijd en geïllustreerde alfabetten. De teksten op de prints weerspiegelen zijn obsessie voor typografie en de stijl van de prenten herinnert aan zijn eerdere zeefdrukken met een achtergrond in een effen kleur . \r\n\r\nIn 2008 voegde Anton Kannemeyer meer litho's toe aan het *Alphabet of Democracy* . *G is for goodhealth*, *B is for black*, *W is for white*, *N is for nightmare*en *F is for footwashing*. Deze prints hebben betrekking op lokale , Zuid-Afrikaanse evenementen en definities uit woordenboeken zoals gebruikt in scholen, maar hun betekenis strekt zich ver buiten Zuid- Afrikaanse grenzen en alludeert op vooroordelen en sociale kwesties over de hele wereld . *N is for nightmare*, *B is for black* en *W is for white* zullen in de VS en Europa even hard klinken zoals ze dat doen op het zuidelijkste puntje van Afrika ."},{"locale":"fr","short_description":"","description":""},{"locale":"ru","short_description":"","description":""},{"locale":"de","short_description":"","description":""},{"locale":"es","short_description":"","description":""},{"locale":"el","short_description":"","description":""}],"actors":[{"id":2115,"name":"Anton Kannemeyer","category":{"en":"Creator","nl":"Vervaardiger","fr":"Créateur"}}]}
