Over M HKA / Missie

Het M HKA is een museum voor hedendaagse beeldende kunst, film en beeldcultuur. Het is een open ontmoetingsplaats van en voor de kunst, de kunstenaar en het publiek. Het M HKA ambieert een voortrekkersrol in Vlaanderen en een internationaal profiel voortbouwend op de Antwerpse avant-gardetraditie. Het M HKA overbrugt de verhouding tussen artistieke en brede samenlevingsvragen, tussen het internationale en het regionale, kunstenaars en publiek, traditie en vernieuwing, reflectie en presentatie. Centraal daarbij staat de collectie met verwerving, beheer en onderzoek.

Over M HKA Ensembles

Met M HKA Ensembles zetten we onze eerste voor het publiek zichtbare stappen in het digitale landschap. Ons doel is met behulp van nieuwe media de kunstwerken nog beter te kaderen dan we tot nu toe hebben kunnen doen.

De toepassing is volledig in het museum ontwikkeld en is toegankelijk via een breed gamma aan toestellen: smartphones, tablets en desktopcomputers.

Deze publieksversie is geen eiland op zichzelf, maar kadert binnen een groter digitaal geheel. De inhoud komt rechtstreeks uit de ensemblebank, een intern breed gedragen werkinstrument dat toelaat diverse betekenislagen te creëren rond de kunstwerken. Productie, curatoren, bemiddeling (maar ook externen): iedereen draagt bij. Op die manier kan de kennis van binnen het museum met een klik doorstromen tot in de zalen. Het M HKA is van plan deze oefening in transparantie de komende jaren met enthousiasme voort te zetten en nog meer uit te breiden.
