Item: The Tower Was Equipped with a Glass Safety Shield
2006
Sculpture, 66 x 30 x 17 cm.
Materials: Mixed media
Collection: Courtesy of Christine König Galerie, Vienna.
On a peculiar tower made of sculpted wood stands a figurine protected by a “glass safety shield”. This piece, made for the exhibition Glass in Vienna in 2006, is a play with a material which according to Jimmie Durham, is “so hard, yet so breakable!” and therefore not appropriate as a shield.
See more of Durham’s comments about glass on the exhibition page and on a handwritten note from 1995.
