Jacques Lacan Wallpaper is based on the drawings from Dora García’s notebooks, which she uses as a space for reflection on her readings. The direct references to Jacques Lacan’s Seminar XXIII: Le sinthome, dedicated to James Joyce, is here accompanied by a depiction of a walking man that might serve as an allusion to Robert Walser’s novella The Walk (1917). Whereas the yellowish background of the work refers to The Yellow Wallpaper (1892), a famous antipatriarchal short story by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Jacques Lacan Wallpaper is a complex pattern representing the interconnection of various mental spaces.
