M HKA gaat digitaal

M HKA goes digital

Embracing the possibilities of new media, M HKA is making a particular effort to share its knowledge and give art the framework it deserves.

We are currently focusing on the experience in the museum with this application for smartphones and tablets. In the future this will also lead to a versatile desktop version, which is now still in its construction phase.

The oeuvre of Bart Stolle includes rigorous animations, precisely composed paintings and an archive that serves as the basis for his installations. By means of abstraction and the employ of elementary forms, he wishes to lay bare the foundations of both art and society. In each new creation, Stolle profoundly queries his artistic points of departure. Stolle’s animation films comprise part of an overarching project entitled Low Fixed Media Show. His films have references to abstract art from the beginning of the 20th century, as well as to contemporary symbols like computer emoticons. The animations combine absurd humor with involvement in societal issues. In his film work, Stolle reacts to the flood of manipulated and synthesized images with which the media bombards us on a daily basis.

For his piece Debris, Stolle uses a modernistic and formal language; he desires to obtain the maximum effect with a minimum of means. A city is made up out of squares and dots, moving surfaces and landscapes are reduced to nothing more than a line.
